The Kansas City Chiefs held on to defeat the Denver Broncos, 34-28, in a wild game on Sunday that marked the Chiefs' 10th victory of the season. The win meant that Kansas City kept pace for the top record in the AFC while also preserving their high standing in the various NFL "power rankings" from around the web.
The folks at Bleacher Report ranked the Chiefs at No. 3 this week, trailing only Philadelphia and Buffalo. Here's a portion of what they had to say about Kansas City:
"On most levels, the Kansas City Chiefs are rolling. After outlasting the Broncos in Denver, the Chiefs remain undefeated in the AFC West. Kansas City has now beaten the Broncos a staggering 14 times in a row. Any combination of Chiefs wins and Chargers losses the rest of the way will give Kansas City a seventh straight division title."
The Ringer's Austin Gayle, meanwhile, has the Chiefs at No. 2 this week while citing quarterback Patrick Mahomes' brilliant overall performance this season.
"Don't let his three interceptions against Denver trick you into thinking Patrick Mahomes isn't playing at an elite level this season. He is the top-ranked quarterback in EPA per drop back entering Week 15, and no one else really comes close. As exceptional as Jalen Hurts has been for Philly, Mahomes deserves to be the runaway favorite for MVP right now."
