The Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a thrilling victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon behind an impressive showing from backup quarterback Matt Moore, who led the offense into position for kicker Harrison Butker to nail a game-winning field goal as time expired.
It was a statement victory by the Chiefs, who maintained their lead in the AFC West while also preserving their high standing in the various "NFL power rankings" from around the web.
ESPN has the Chiefs at No. 5 in their rankings, trailing only the San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens.
Bleacher Report also slotted the Chiefs in at No. 5, commending Moore's performance in relief of reigning league MVP Patrick Mahomes. Here's a portion of what they had to say about the veteran passer:
"The 35-year-old got plenty of help in Week 9 from running back Damien Williams, who topped 100 rushing yards and peeled off a franchise-record 91-yard score, and from wideout Tyreek Hill, who caught six passes for 140 yards and a touchdown, but Moore did his part, too, passing for 275 yards and posting a passer rating over 100."
Elsewhere, the folks at NFL.com ranked Kansas City at No. 8 while USA Today placed the Chiefs at No. 7, moving up two spots.
