What We Learned from Friday's Media Availability

Head Coach Andy Reid spoke with the media on Friday

HEAD COACH ANDY REID

OPENING STATEMENT:"As far as the injuries go, these are the players that will be listed as out: Jamaal Charles, knee was just up and down, and we just backed him off here and see if we can get that thing to settle down. Jordan Devey sprained his ankle yesterday in practice, so he's going to be down, and then, D.J. White had the surgery on his hand, and again, he'll be down. Tamba [Hali] did not practice today, but that's kind of our protocol that we've done. We look forward to playing Indy. It's a great challenge, good football team, and our guys have had a good week of practice."

Q:Do you have to bring Darrin Reaves up from the practice squad?

REID:"No, we won't do that."

Q:You'll go with two guys?

REID:"Yeah."

Q:How do you feel about that?

REID:"Yeah, we're alright with it. Some of the young guys can play there."

Q:How are you going to list Mitchell Schwartz? Will he play?

REID:"Yeah, well, we think so. He practiced today, so we'll see – see how he does."

Q:Phillip Gaines too?

REID:"Yeah."

Q:You just want to be that extra cautious with Jamaal Charles?

REID:"Yeah, you have to be smart with it. He might take a step back and come forward with something better. That's what you try to do. We're never going to put him out there if it's not right. That's just not going to happen. It doesn't matter who the player is – that's how we roll."

Q: What was your reaction to the news about Marty [Schottenheimer] and does Alzheimer's disease hit you at home at all?

REID: "No, not yet it doesn't. It's a sad deal. That disease is a sad deal. It takes you away, yet you're there. It's a crazy deal. I've seen it, but no one in my family has had it. I've known people that have had it. That's a rough one. My blessings are with him. He's a great man. I love him to death. Prayers are with him and his family."

Q: Have you crossed paths with him?

REID: "I have."

Q: Where did you see him? REID: "We flew around in a little plane to go to the 101 Awards, one time from Atlantic City for an awards banquet back to here, and just some different events that we've been at. Great guy, great person, great football coach. Let's not forget that one."
