NFL Power Rankings: Where Do the Chiefs Sit Now?

The newest rankings are out after the Chiefs’ 19-12 loss to the Texans last Sunday

The folks over at NFL.com have put together their latest power rankings, and after falling to the Houston Texans last week by a score of 19-12, the Kansas City Chiefs fell three spots to No. 12 this week.

Here's what NFL.com’s Elliot Harrison had to say about the Chiefs:

No. 12 - Kansas City Chiefs (1-1)

"So, it's 1-1 for the **Chiefs*, with a mixture of positive and negative after two weeks. The defense looked far better *in Houston* than *in front of the home folks in Week 1*[Marcus Petersinternal-link-placeholder-3]snagged a pair of picks, and the defense as a whole made the *Texans* look thoroughly inept on third down. Unfortunately, the offense took a big step back from Week 1, failing to score a touchdown in a mostly putrid effort. In a healthy 37 attempts, [Alex Smithinternal-link-placeholder-3]threw for all of 186 yards. Yuck. If not for [Cairo Santosinternal-link-placeholder-3], Kansas City wouldn't have scored at all. Next up: *Jets, at Arrowhead*."*

The top three spots on this week's rankings are held by AFC teams, with the Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 1), New England Patriots (No. 2) and Denver Broncos (No. 3) sitting at the top.

Rounding out the AFC West, the Oakland Raiders dropped five spots this week to No. 17 after falling to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday, while the San Diego Chargers climbed eight spots to No. 21 after their 38-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Chiefs face the New York Jets (No. 10) on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium with a 3:25 p.m. CT kickoff.
