Cornerback Marcus Peters is the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
The NFL made the announcement early Wednesday morning on "Good Morning Football," which airs on the NFL Network.
Peters earned the award for his game against the New York Jets, during which he had two interceptions off of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, the first of which led to Kansas City's only offensive touchdown of the game.* *Peters intercepted Fitzpatrick again in the fourth quarter.
Rounding out his stat line, Peters also had a tackle in the game and two passes defensed.
After finishing 2015 with a share of the league lead for interceptions with eight, Peters already stands alone atop this year's leaderboard with four picks through three games.
In addition to this accolade, Peters won last year's AP Defensive Rookie of the Year Award, the PFWA Defensive Rookie of the Year Award and the AFC Defensive Rookie of the Month Award for December. Other AFC award winners this week are Broncos QB Trevor Siemian (AFC Offensive Player of the Week) and Patriots punter Ryan Allen (Special Teams Player of the Week).
