Jamaal Charles: As Good as Advertised

A look at some of the Pro Bowl RB's best moments

The NFL Network revealed Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles as being ranked #20 on its list of the "Top 100 Players of 2013". There are plenty of Chiefs fans who will be quick to say Jamaal should have a higher ranking and you can't blame them, especially after his 2012 campaign.

There's no doubt that Jamaal Charles is as good as advertised, evidenced by his Superdome sprint in New Orleans, which covered 91 yards for the score. Charles ended the day with 233 yards rushing and the TD, helping the Chiefs overcome an 18-point deficit for the 27-24 victory in Week 3 last season.

Let's not forget that in 2012, Jamaal bounced back from a season-ending knee injury, suffered during the second game of the 2011 season, to rush 285 times for 1,509 yards (5.3 avg.) with five touchdowns, earning a trip to his second Pro Bowl. His 1,509 yards are a single-season career-high. Jamaal earned 80 of those yards during his TD run against the Cleveland Browns in Week 14.

What many people forget is that Jamaal Charles isn't just a fast and gifted running back; he's also a threat as a receiver. During last year's Week 4 matchup against the San Diego Chargers, Charles caught three passes for 23 yards, including a 13-yard TD, which came after a 37-yard TD run, earlier in the game.

Jamaal is entering his sixth season with the Chiefs and he looked great during the 2013 OTA and minicamp practices. If Chiefs fans get their wish, they'll see more games from Jamaal ending like his career-best performance against the Denver Broncos on January 3, 2010, when he rushed for 259 yards and two TDs.

So, while the debate over where Jamaal Charles (and his other four Chiefs teammates) belongs on the Top 100 Players of 2013 continues, as the saying goes, 'numbers never lie'; here's a list of Jamaal's rushing TDs, as well as a look at his career-high records earned during his five-year career.
