The Kansas City Chiefs defense intercepted Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning three times in the first half and Cairo Santos connected on four field goals leading to a 19-0 Kansas City advantage at the break from Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colo.
The Broncos started with the ball and on Manning's first pass attempt of the game, Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters intercepted him for his fourth pick of the season. Peters returned the interception to Denver's 31-yard line.
QB Alex Smith and company took quick advantage of the short field, capping a 5-play drive off with a 4-yard touchdown rushing by running back Charcandrick West, his third of the season and third in as many games.
Cornerback Sean Smith and linebacker Josh Mauga also had interceptions in the half, and Santos was a perfect 4 for 4 on field goals to give the Chiefs a 19-0 lead.
Manning finished the half 4 of 15 for 30 yards passing and 3 interceptions. Smith was 15 of 21 for 116 yards passing.
