As teams begin to have more and more success in the NFL, their draft pick will drop lower and lower. That has begun to happen over the past few years to the Kansas City Chiefs, who will pick 28th in the 2016 NFL Draft after selecting 18th overall last season.
Here is a historical look at all the 28th overall picks since 1970 (1970 was the first year of the combined NFL Draft; an AFL-NFL common draft was held from 1967-1969):

- There have been 11 defensive backs drafted at No. 28 since 1970.
- The Chiefs have only selected at No. 28 overall once since 1970 – 1996, when they selected defensive back Jerome Woods.
- A different position was selected at the No. 28 spot in each of the last 10 NFL Drafts.
As the Chiefs have now entered the offseason, general manager John Dorsey is expected to address the media later this week.
