The Kansas City Chiefs announced three new signings on Tuesday, DL Marcus Dixon, WR Mardy Gilyard and TE Kevin Brock.
Marcus Dixon (6'4, 295) was undrafted out of Hampton College and spent time with the Dallas Cowboys in 2008, before joining the New York Jets in 2010. While playing in the city that never sleeps, Dixon competed in 22 games, including four starts and totaled 15 solo tackles, six assists, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
The Rome, Georgia native will reunite with former New York Jets senior defensive assistant coach Bob Sutton, who now is the Chiefs defensive coordinator.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the ball, the Chiefs signed free agent WR Mardy Gilyard.
The Daytona Beach, Florida native, Gilyard (5'11, 194) owns eight receptions for 78 yards, two punt returns for 15 yards and 16 kickoff returns for 356 yards (22.3 avg.) during his two seasons in the NFL.
The former All-American receiver at the University of Cincinnati originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick (99th overall) of the St. Louis Rams in 2010. Last season, Gilyard spent time with Andy Reid's Philadelphia Eagles and later the New York Jets, who released him on Dec. 24, 2012.
Joining the Chiefs with Dixon and Gilyard is Kevin Brock (6-5, 249), who entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers in 2009. Prior to the Chiefs, Dixon spent time in Buffalo (2011-12), Oakland (2010-11), Dallas (2010), Chicago (2009-10), Pittsburgh (2009) and with the New York Jets (2009).
The Hackensack, New Jersey native, Brock has played in two games, both with the Bills in 2011, recording two receptions for 27 yards. Since entering the NFL, the former Rutgers tight end has primarily served as a practice squad member.
