The Kansas City Chiefs added depth in the secondary, signing cornerback Dunta Robinson, the team announced today.
Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton's 3-4 defense relies heavily upon strong secondary play, including blanket coverage by the corners.
Regardless of where Robinson is placed, Chiefs secondary coach Emmitt Thomas and defensive assistant/secondary coach Al Harris will ensure it's the best possible position for both Robinson and the Chiefs to succeed.
The 5'10 cornerback, Robinson joins the Chiefs, after a three-year stay with the Atlanta Falcons, which followed six years with the team that drafted him 10th overall in 2004, the Houston Texans.
During his nine-year NFL career, Rob
inson's resume includes 126 starts in 131 games, with the Texans (2004-09) and Falcons (2010-12).
He's totaled 580 tackles (490 solo), 5.5 sacks, 17 INTs, with one pick-six and 87 pass breakups.
Robinson's rookie year (2004) also happened to be his best-statistical season, finishing with 87 tackles (73 solo), three sacks, six INTs and 19 pass breakups.
The Athens, Georgia native, Robinson played safety at South Carolina, before being moved to cornerback his junior year. He was a multi-sport athlete at Clarke Central High School in Athens, GA.
