When the Kansas City Chiefs selected tailback Clyde Edwards-Helaire with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the consensus almost right away was that the five-foot-seven, 207-pound Helaire – who tallied 1,867 yards of total offense in 2019 – was the perfect running back for Andy Reid's offense.

Nearly a month later, that's still very much the case.

The folks at NFL.com ranked who they believe to be the top rookies “in the best position for success in 2020” last week, and unsurprisingly, Edwards-Helaire checked in at No. 3 behind only Washington Redskins' defensive end Chase Young and Cincinnati Bengals' quarterback Joe Burrow.

Burrow and Young were the first two overall selections of the entire draft, so their presence shouldn't come as too much of a shock, but Edwards-Helaire's inclusion at No. 3 on the list as the final pick of the first round speaks volumes to what the experts believe the 21-year-old running back can do in Kansas City.

Here's a portion of what analyst Dan Parr had to say about Edwards-Helaire and how the dynamic tailback fits with the Chiefs:

"The fit seems too good to be true. A three-down weapon provides a havoc-wreaking offense with one of the few pieces it still needed? That'll play. Think of the one-on-one matchups against linebackers that Andy Reid will be able to exploit with this dynamo catching passes out of the backfield. Patrick Mahomes got exactly what he wanted, which is bad news for the rest of the league."

Edwards-Helaire joins a backfield that already includes Damien Williams - who tallied 133 total yards and two touchdowns in the Super Bowl – in addition to second-year tailback Darwin Thompson, third-year player Darrel Williams, free agent signee DeAndre Washington and veteran Elijah McGuire, so he'll need to earn his time on the field, but when he's out there, the experts believe Edwards-Helaire will thrive.
