Three years ago, the Kansas City Chiefs brought in undrafted free agent kicker Cairo Santos to compete with veteran Ryan Succop during the offseason.
Two years ago, the Chiefs had both James Winchester and Andrew East compete during the offseason for the long snapper position.
Winchester, who won the spot, actually signed a contract extension with the Chiefs this past January.
This year, the Chiefs brought in another punter to join veteran Dustin Colquitt, who has already established himself as arguably the best punter in franchise history with the highest career punting average (44.83) of any player to ever wear a Chiefs' uniform.
Colquitt, who was selected by the Chiefs in the third round (No. 99 overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft out of Tennessee, has played in 190 career regular season games over his 12 years with the Chiefs, which is the most of any player on the current roster.
This offseason, the Chiefs signed former Duke punter Will Monday as a free agent.
While at Duke, Monday was named to the ACC's All-Conference team all four years of his career, and he led the conference in gross punting average as a freshman (44.6).
