The 2016 NFL schedule has been released, and the Kansas City Chiefs have drawn three primetime nationally televised games. In their franchise history, the Chiefs have fared generally well in primetime games, posting an all-time record of 27-18.

Per NFL flex scheduling rules, the Chiefs are locked in for all three of their primetime games in 2016. A primetime game on Christmas Day, which the Chiefs have this season, cannot be changed despite being a Week 16 matchup.

Also, per those rules, the Chiefs could have additional primetime games announced during the season.

The Chiefs will play their first primetime game of the season Week 4, when they head to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers for Sunday Night Football. The Steelers are one of four 2015 playoff teams on Kansas City's 2016 schedule.

This will be the third year in a row and the fifth time in the past six seasons that the Chiefs will play the Steelers.

In 2015, the Chiefs defeated the Steelers, 23-13, at Arrowhead Stadium. Without wide receiver Jeremy Maclin due to injury, quarterback Alex Smith found then-rookie Chris Conley for his only touchdown passing of the game.

Heading into 2016, Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger is 64-21 at Heinz Field.

Following the Week 4 matchup with Pittsburgh, the Chiefs head into an early Week 5 bye week.

The Chiefs will have their second primetime game of the season 10 weeks after their first—a Week 14 Thursday Night Football matchup with the Oakland Raiders. In addition to being broadcasted on both NBC and NFL Network, for the first time ever, "Raider Week" will also be streamed live on Twitter.

The Week 14 matchup with Oakland will be a rematch of Kansas City's Week 5 game at the O.co Coliseum.

Last season, the Chiefs swept the season series with the Raiders, taking the first game in Oakland, 34-20, and the second game in Kansas City, 23-17.

Week 16 – Sunday Night Football – Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs (NBC)

Two weeks later, the Chiefs will host the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos on Christmas night.

2016 will mark the second time in franchise history that the team will play a regular season game on Christmas. The last time was 2004, when the Chiefs defeated the Raiders, 31-30, with a 38-yard field goal in the final minute by then-kicker Lawrence Tynes.

The game will be Kansas City's second with the Broncos on the year, the first coming four weeks earlier during Week 12 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

In 2015, the Chiefs went 1-1 against Denver, but Kansas City's all-time record versus the Broncos is 57-55. This will be Denver's first season without legendary QB Peyton Manning at the helm since 2012.
