When news broke of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce leaving practice early on Monday with an apparent injury, there was a collective worry among fans.
On Tuesday, coach Andy Reid addressed those concerns.
"Travis has a slightly sprained ankle," Reid explained. "It's not a high ankle sprain. There's a chance if we were playing a regular season game, he'd have a pretty good shot of playing."
That has to be good news for fans, who were fearing the worst over the past 24 hours.
Reid explained how the injury occurred at practice.
"It looks like he got his foot caught in the grass," he noted. "He just tweaked his ankle a little bit. I think he's lucky the grass gave way a little bit. That's what happened."
The Chiefs travel to take on the St. Louis Rams on Thursday for their fourth and final preseason game, and Kelce was likely not to play anyways. He's got a little less than two weeks to get ready for the first Chiefs regular season game against the Houston Texans on Sunday, September 13.
