The Kansas City Chiefs currently head into the second day of the 2018 NFL Draft with a second-round pick (No. 54 overall) and a couple of third-rounders (No. 78, No. 86).
With so much talk about trading up, at least in regards to popping up into the first round, Chiefs' general manager Brett Veach showed some restraint Thursday night, telling local media afterwards that he did have some "dialogue" with teams about trading up at the end of the first round, but that they were never really close.
Veach also told the media that he likes how things have set up for the Chiefs Friday.
"We feel pretty good about where the board is and how the numbers worked out," Veach noted (click link for complete breakdown of Thursday night)."They never work out exactly—you try to have kind of a ballpark in your mind about how the numbers are going to work out and where you're going to need to be in regards to the probability of guys being there, but we're right around that number.
"I think that there are always different scenarios that could play out, but I think we're positioned to capitalize however it does play out."
