Who Will the Chiefs Pick in Round 1? | 2025 Mock Draft Roundup 5.0

Here’s the latest look at who the experts think the Chiefs will draft on April 24

The 2025 NFL Draft will be here before we know it, and as the league prepares to gather in Green Bay on April 24, the football-watching world is rife with mock drafts and projections as to how the first round will play out.

Here's a look at who some of the latest mock drafts from around the web have the Chiefs selecting with the No. 31 overall pick on April 24, and for reference, previous roundups can be found below:

Previous: 1.0 | 2.0 | 3.0 | 4.0

NFL.com (Eric Edholm - March 28): Oregon DT Derrick Harmon

Eric Edholm from NFL.com has the Chiefs trading up in his latest mock draft for the right to select Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon. Here's more from Edholm:

"From 2016 through 2019, the Chiefs drafted six interior defensive linemen, five in the top 85 overall; since then, they've drafted one DT (Keondre Coburn, a sixth-rounder in 2023). Hence the desire to trade up ahead of some DL-needy teams for Harmon."

CBS Sports (Garrett Podell - March 31): Oregon OT Josh Conerly Jr.

CBS Sports' Garrett Podell also went with an Oregon lineman in his latest mock draft, but instead of Harmon, Podell sent an offensive player to Kansas City in tackle prospect Josh Conerly Jr. Here's what Podell wrote about the selection:

"The 2024 first-team All-Big Ten left tackle allowed the lowest quarterback pressure rate (1.6%) in the conference in 2024 (minimum 400 snaps) and surrendered just two sacks on 1,032 career pass block snaps. Kansas City takes care of Patrick Mahomes here."

Pro Football Network (March 30): North Dakota State OL Grey Zabel

The folks at Pro Football Network sent North Dakota State offensive lineman Grey Zabel to Kansas City in their latest mock. Here's what they had to say about Zabel:

"Grey Zabel is a versatile offensive lineman who has played both tackle spots and inside at guard. He is a powerful player who also flashes good overall movement skills. He could compete for a role at multiple positions on the Chiefs' offensive line."

ESPN (Matt Miller - March 27): Georgia EDGE Mykel Williams

ESPN's Matt Miller, who forecasted all seven rounds in his latest mock, sent Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams to the Chiefs in Round 1. Here's more from Miller:

"Working alongside Chris Jones and George Karlaftis would give Williams one-on-one matchups with offensive linemen as he develops his game. His rare physical tools could make him a special 4-3 defensive end -- if he puts everything together."

The 33rd Team (Tyler Brooke - March 29): North Dakota State OL Grey Zabel

Tyler Brooke from The 33rd Team has the Chiefs going with versatile North Dakota State offensive lineman Grey Zebel in his latest mock. Here's more on the pick:

"Grey Zabel can play a variety of positions across the offensive line and brings great foot speed, pad level, and movement skills to play wherever the Chiefs need him to in 2025."

NFL.com (Charles Davis - March 31): Ohio State OT Josh Simmons

NFL.com's Charles Davis sent Ohio State left tackle Josh Simmons to Kansas City with the No. 31 overall pick. Here's what Davis wrote about the selection:

"Bottom line: K.C. must do everything it can to protect Patrick Mahomes. Oregon's Josh Conerly Jr. could also be in play for the Chiefs here."

USA Today (Nate Davis - April 1): Mississippi DT Walter Nolen

Nate Davis from USA Today has the Chiefs taking Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen in Round 1. Here's more from Davis:

"Based purely on high-ceiling talent, he's as gifted as any D-tackle in this draft. And playing alongside Chris Jones, who will be 31 on opening day, could be the best way for Nolen to maximize his potential – while also giving the Chiefs another disruptor they could use on the D-line."
