KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs have announced the most recent recipients of the Missouri and Kansas High School Coach of the Week awards. Hogan Prep's (Missouri) Phil Lascuola and Shawnee Mission South's (Kansas) Ryan Lonergan each received this honor after a strong performance by their respective teams last week.
Coach Lascuola and his Hogan Prep Rams have started the season 3-0 after last week's 22-15 win over Center. On the Kansas side, the Shawnee Mission South Raiders and Coach Lonergan defeated Olathe North 10-7, marking the program's first win versus the Eagles in 20 years.
As a result, both schools will receive a $500 grant toward player health and safety equipment and/or education. Lascuola and Lonergan will be presented with congratulatory footballs autographed by Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid, a certificate recognizing their selection, in addition to a special-edition Chiefs Coach of the Week hat. Each coach is now a finalist for their respective state's Chiefs High School Coach of the Year Award, which will be announced at the conclusion of the regular season.
