McDonald's and Chiefs Announce Grant Awards with Play 60 Contest

Contest will recognize students, teachers and groups for creativity and hard work in promoting healthy lifestyles

Kansas City area McDonald's restaurants have teamed up with the Kansas City Chiefs to recognize students, teachers and groups for their creativity and hard work in promoting healthy lifestyles with a 'Be the Change' Play 60 contest. Nine winners will receive a $250 grant that can be used for anything to support healthy activity at their school, church, home or other location. They will also be invited to participate in an exclusive 'Be the Change' celebration event at The University of Kansas Hospital Training Complex on April 1 with the Play 60 team, former Chiefs players, KC Wolf, Chiefs Cheerleaders and more.

The submission is easy. Applicants can submit on behalf of themselves or someone they know by filling out a short form with any supporting photos or a video on the contest website showing how they are furthering the Play 60 principles including health, exercise, and nutrition. The deadline for submissions is March 11 and winners will be announced by March 16.

"Play 60 is a fantastic program that aligns with our beliefs and goals for our community," said Jim Wagy, McDonald's Kansas City co-op president. "We are pleased to continue building on our partnership with the Chiefs to help promote good choices and healthy living. Together, we can Be the Change."

"The NFL Play 60 initiative has had such an outstanding impact on our local youth and educators," Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. "This contest is an exciting way to bring the program to life and recognize key contributors in the area of youth health and wellness. We're looking forward to seeing the submissions that will showcase its impact first hand."
