1. Alex Smith efficient once again
Since Week 2, Alex Smith has been on-fire for the Kansas City Chiefs.
In his last seven games, Smith has 146 completions on 211 attempts (69.2 percent) for 1,490 yards with 10 touchdowns and one interception, good for a 103.0 passer rating.
On Sunday against the Jets, Smith completed 21 of 31 passes for 199 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
2. Chiefs moved the ball at will in first half
The Chiefs offense had 211 yards of offense in the first half, compared to just 121 for the Jets. They scored touchdowns on their first two offensive drives and led 21-10 at halftime.
It was important for the Chiefs to come out fast and not allow the Jets offense, who had the third most rushing attempts in the NFL, an opportunity to play their game.
3. Kept Alex Smith clean
Coming into Sunday's game, the Jets defense had 24 sacks in their eight games, which tied them for fourth-best in the NFL with the Chiefs.
Sheldon Richardson and Muhammad Wilkerson were talked about all week, and the Chiefs offensive line deserves a lot of credit for slowing down an effective defensive line of the Jets.
The Jets picked up one sack late in the game by Jason Babin, but for the most part, the Chiefs offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage.
4. Key offensive categories look good
Every week, Chiefs coach Andy Reid will look at third down conversions and red zone efficiency as barometers of success for the Chiefs offense.
On third down, the Chiefs offense went 8 of 13, and inside the red zone, the Chiefs scored three of the four times they got inside the 20-yard line.
5. De'Anthony Thomas' kick return
The Jets first touchdown came late in the first half and brought them to within seven points at 14-7, and on the ensuing kickoff, rookie De'Anthony Thomas returned in 78 yards and set up Travis Kelce's 12-yard touchdown reception from Smith.
It was the first time the Jets had a little momentum in the game after their touchdown, and it didn't last long as great blocking and a lightning-fast returner in Thomas brought back the momentum on the Chiefs side.
6. Anthony Fasano can make catches while lying on his back
In the first quarter with the Chiefs leading 7-0, tight end Anthony Fasano caught a deflected pass from quarterback Alex Smith from the two-yard line while lying on his back.
Fasano made the catch while sitting down, and had to roll over a bit to get into the end zone.
The play was reviewed and the touchdown gave the Chiefs a 14-0 lead less than 12 minutes into the game.
7. Jamaal Charles is more than a speed rusher
Early in this game, the Chiefs leaned on running back Jamaal Charles to run the football against a stout Jets front seven.
Charles had 12 carries for 50 yards in the first half, and many of those came after first contact. Some of Charles' most impressive runs on the day were for three, four or five yards, where he broke tackles and fought for extra yards.
8. Justin Houston is good at football
The NFL's leading sack-artist picked up two more on Sunday against the Jets.
Houston now has 12 sacks on the season, and the NFL record set by Michael Strahan in 2011 is 22.5.
9. Dontari Poe is quicker than most non-Kansas City's fans know
On the third play of the third quarter, Chiefs nose tackle Dontari Poe chased down Jets quarterback Michael Vick out on the edge.
It was a ridiculous display of speed from Poe, who picked up the sack on third-and-3, and continues to show why he's one of the best young defensive linemen in the NFL.
10. Fourth down stand
Early in the fourth quarter, the Jets attempted a fourth-and-3 from the three-yard line, and the Chiefs defense kept them out of the end zone.
At the time, the Chiefs led 24-10, which ended up being the final score.
This may have been the defining play of the game, and the Chiefs defense rose to the occasion.
