The Kansas City Chiefs added veteran depth to their defensive line, signing DE Mike DeVito, the team announced today.

DeVito reunites with current Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton, who spent the past 13 years with the New York Jets as an assistant coach.

DeVito (6-3, 305) has played in 82 games, including 38 starts in six NFL seasons, with the New York Jets (2007-12).

His career numbers include 202 tackles (126 solo), 2.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one pass breakup.

DeVito is coming off of one of his best statistical seasons (2012), totaling 52 tackles (27 solo) and one sack. He has appeared in six postseason games (three starts), including two AFC title games.

The Wellfleet, Massachusetts native originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Jets in 2007.

As a nose tackle at the University of Maine, he recorded 112 tackles and 16 sacks. DeVito earned All-Atlantic 10 honors twice, during his collegiate career.

He played tight end and defensive end at Wallfleet High School in Wallfleet, MA.
