Andy Reid is three steps closer to finalizing his coaching staff, the team announced on Tuesday.

The Chiefs named Eugene Chung as their new assistant offensive line coach and retained coaches Gary Gibbs (Linebackers) and Emmitt Thomas (Defensive Backs).

Chung joins the Chiefs after three seasons in the same role with Philadelphia Eagles.

The former guard was drafted in the first round (13th overall) by the New England Patriots in the 1992 NFL Draft. He played three seasons for the Patriots (1992-94), one for the Jaguars (1995) and a final season for the Colts (1997).

His last three seasons coaching in Philly proved worthy to coach Reid, who reunites with his former colleague.

"We have continued to bring in high-quality coaches to fill out the staff and I am excited that Eugene Chung is in the fold as our assistant offensive line coach," Reid said.

"I'm also pleased to retain two dedicated and successful coaches. I look forward to working with both Gary and Emmitt as we move forward into the 2013 season."

A coaching veteran (30 years), Gary Gibbs enters year five as the Chiefs linebackers coach, which included defensive coordinator duties during last season (Weeks 10-17).

Prior to KC, Gibbs spent three years (2006-08) as the defensive coordinator with the New Orleans Saints. He entered the NFL ranks as linebackers coach with Dallas (2002-05).

Like Gibbs, Thomas also returns to the Chiefs coaching staff, beginning his fourth season as defensive backs coach. The 2013 season is his 46th-overall NFL campaign, his 33rd as an NFL assistant.

Thomas played 13 seasons for the Chiefs, ultimately ending in the Hall of Fame, Class of 2008. He originally joined the Chiefs coaching staff in 2010 after spending eight years coaching with the Atlanta Falcons (2002-09), including a stint as interim head coach for three games of the 2007 campaign.
