Biography
Kevin Higgins begins his eighth season with the club in 2024 and is in his fourth season as the Vice President of Information Technology/CISO after being promoted to the position on Sept. 8, 2021.
Reporting to the club's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Higgins originally joined the franchise in 2017 as the Director of Information Technology and in 2019, added the title of Club Information Security Officer to his duties.
In his role he oversees the operations, management and security of information assets and technology resources for the club as well as Hunt Midwest. He and his staff handle all technology-related needs for the club, including device security and management, network security, product management, software development and help desk support. For his efforts, Higgins was recognized as a CIO Award recipient by the Info-Tech Research Group in 2020 and 2022 for extraordinary technology leadership. This award recognizes CIOs who have achieved a world-class level of business leadership satisfaction.
Throughout 2021, Higgins and his team continued to strategically outsource software-to-software as a service partner while maintaining closer control on the internal systems needed to facilitate a game day or other major events at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. New solutions in payment processing as well as customer data, marketing and loyalty were introduced to improve the fan experience. Additionally, enhanced protective controls were added for both building access and event credentialing. Lastly, the technology team digitized many of the processes and displays for the player personnel department, minimizing their dependence on paper and magnet boards.
Prior to joining the Chiefs, Higgins held multiple director-level and executive roles in the information technology space focusing on data-informed technical and operational solutions to meet a variety of business needs. These stops included three years as the Chief Technology Officer at Ad Astra Information Systems in Overland Park, Kansas (2015-17), three years as IT Director for the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine in Leawood, Kansas (2013-15), and nearly seven years as Director of E-Commerce and Marketing Solutions at Collective Brands, Inc. in Topeka, Kansas (2007-13).
In addition, he made three professional stops in Atlanta, Georgia, in various IT capacities, including as the Director of Product Development at PRGX Inc. (2006-07) and Vice President of IT and E-Commerce at Anderson Press Inc. (2003-06). He also served as Chief Architect and Owner for Digital Research Enterprises, Inc., a family-owned professional services, software development and business consulting firm (1995-03).
