It was the kind of play that epitomized the magic that Patrick Mahomes has displayed throughout his first season as the Kansas City Chiefs' starting quarterback.

In a tight game against the postseason-bound Baltimore Ravens, Mahomes looked one way and fired the ball another, placing it right in the waiting arms of wide receiver Demarcus Robinson without even taking a peek at his target.

The no-look pass took over social media in a matter of minutes, and even a month later, prompted Peter King of NBC Sports to make the trip to Kansas City this past weekend with one question in mind:

How did you do that?

Mahomes broke down what happened on the play, describing how he ran through his first read before seeing Robinson streaking across the field. Then, still fixated on the right side of the grass, the MVP candidate flicked the ball 27 yards to his left toward a pair of stacked trash cans without a single glance.

And, just like that Sunday afternoon against the Ravens, the ball was right on target. King later indicated that it was Mahomes' very first take.

"You're kind of accurate," King said following Mahomes' throw.

Mahomes, who became just the second player in NFL history to throw for 5,000+ yards and 50+ touchdowns in a single season in 2018, responded with the humble attitude of a 23-year-old first-year starter.

"Yeah, I try to be at least."

It's safe to say that he's succeeded so far.
