The Kansas City Chiefs won in thrilling fashion last weekend, and as of Wednesday morning, the man in the middle of the Chiefs' "block off" victory was recognized with some hardware.
Linebacker Leo Chenal, who blocked the Denver Broncos' potential game-winning field goal attempt in the final moments of last weekend's game, was named the AFC "Special Teams Player of the Week" on Wednesday for his efforts. His play marked just the third blocked field goal to end a game for any team in the last 10 seasons.
Chenal is the first member of the Chiefs to win the award since kicker Harrison Butker earned "Special Teams Player of the Week" honors in Week 17 of last season.
The third-year linebacker is a big reason why the Chiefs remain undefeated through nine games, and with a major showdown against the Buffalo Bills on deck, Chenal and his teammates will aim to keep it that way on Sunday.
