Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles recently partnered with author Sean Jensen to produce "The Middle School Rules of Jamaal Charles," a book for teens and young adults that features the stories and lessons of Jamaal's childhood, defined by people overlooking him.
According to the book's Amazon description, young readers will see how Jamaal deals with bullying and endures teasing because of a long undiagnosed learning disability that enabled him to participate in the Special Olympics as a 10-year-old. The gold medals he won at the Special Olympics empowered him, and Jamaal displayed a rare work ethic and determination in everything he did on the field and in the classroom.
Weaving Influence's Christopher Lewis recently reviewed the book:
"I have been very impressed with the way that this book was written and how inspiring the book was as well. The author truly has opened my eyes to the amazing man that Jamaal Charles is, but also the kind of life that people should look to want to live too. We need more people acting as role models like Jamaal Charles and I am so glad that kids can now learn from his example this in this great book!"
