The crazy time of year that is free agency is fast approaching, so KCChiefs.com has you covered with a 30-day free agency look, highlighting the 30 most intriguing free agents or players who could be released/traded during the offseason.

You may have noticed, there are no restricted free agents on the list, largely because they rarely leave their current teams. None of the reports are indicative of the Chiefs plans for the 2013 free agency season.

*DAY 18 of 30  *

Danny Amendola has taken the road less traveled in his quest to become an NFL wide receiver. Undrafted, coming out of Texas Tech in 2008, he was initially signed by the Dallas Cowboys and was featured on "Hard Knocks," during Dallas' training camp. He spent the 2008 season on the Cowboys practice squad, was later signed by the Eagles, before finding a home in St. Louis. It remains to be seen if the Rams will keep Amendola or let him test the waters of free agency.

Name: Danny Amendola
Position: WR
Height: 5'11
Weight: 188
College: Texas Tech
Born: November 2nd, 1985 (The Woodlands, TX)
Age: 27
Experience: 4 years
Drafted: Undrafted in 2008

STRENGTHS:

Slot Receiver:

The Wes Welker-Danny Amendola comparisons can't go unmentioned. They both went to Texas Tech, have similar size and both thrive out of the slot receiver position.

Amendola is known for being nearly uncoverable in the slot and is QB Sam Bradford's favorite target. Before his injury during Week 5, this year, he was on pace to have a career-best year, having totaled 51 passes for 576 yards and two touchdowns.

Career stat line: 42 games (17 starts), 12 rushes, 87 yards, 196 receptions, 1,726 yards and 7 TDs

WEAKNESSES:

Injuries

In four seasons, Amendola has competed in all 16 games of the regular season, once.

This season, during the aforementioined-Week 5 injury against the Cardinals, Amendola suffered a left-shoulder injury and missed three weeks of play. After returning from the injury,Amendola later injured his heel. He played in a total of 11 games in 2012.

In 2011, Amedola suffered a dislocated elbow in the season opener and missed the rest of the season on IR (injured reserve list).

Rams general manager Les Snead spoke about Amendola on NFL Network.

"Just like intangibles come into play, just like physical skill comes into play, just like production comes into play, your ability to be on the field comes into play," Snead answered, when asked about Amendola's value.

FINAL TAKE:

While the injury bug has struck Amendola often, he has the competitive fire that all successful WRs have, including Welker.

Amendola is small and has the 'chip on his shoulder' attitude, wanting to prove everybody wrong for not drafting him and thinking he isn't worth a risk. If the Rams don't sign him, Amendola will find work elsewhere, no problem.
