Head Coach Andy Reid Named a Finalist for AP "Coach of the Year"

Reid is one of five finalists this year

Head Coach Andy Reid was named a finalist for Associated Press "Coach of the Year" honors on Thursday, joining Dan Campbell (Lions), Kevin O'Connell (Vikings), Sean Payton (Broncos) and Dan Quinn (Commanders).

Reid led Kansas City to a franchise-best 15-2 regular-season record in 2024, securing a ninth-straight trip to the postseason, an eighth-consecutive division title and – after last week's win over Houston – a seventh-straight berth in the AFC Championship Game.

In fact, since taking over for the Chiefs in 2013, Reid has led Kansas City to a winning record in each of his 12 seasons at the helm. The Chiefs 143 regular-season wins since 2013 are the most in the NFL (by 21 wins), and their 17 playoff wins in that span also lead the league (by four).

Reid led the Chiefs to a 15-win season in 2024 despite losing numerous players on offense either before or during the season, too. Kansas City lost wide receiver Hollywood Brown in August, tailback Isiah Pacheco in Week 2 and wide receiver Rashee Rice in Week 4. Those three players were projected to handle major roles for the Chiefs in 2024, but in spite of those losses, all Reid continued to do was win.

Additionally, the Chiefs' Divisional Round victory over Houston marked Reid's 300th career win as a head coach, making him one of just four coaches in NFL history to reach the 300-win plateau. Only Don Shula (347), Bill Belichick (333) and George Halas (324) have more all-time wins than Reid, and only Belichick – with 31 to Reid's 27 – owns more career postseason wins.

Now just one win shy of reaching Super Bowl LIX, Reid will have an opportunity to add to those totals as the Buffalo Bills come to town on Sunday for the AFC Championship Game.
