Chiefs Injury Update: Five Players Won't Play on Saturday

Chiefs’ Head Coach Andy Reid provided an injury update on Thursday following practice

Defensive tackle Allen Bailey (knee), safety Eric Berry (sore heel), offensive guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (concussion), cornerback Steve Nelson (concussion) and safety Daniel Sorensen (knee) won't play in Saturday's preseason matchup with the Chicago Bears due to injuries, Head Coach Andy Reid announced on Thursday.

Reid noted that Duvernay-Tardif, while still in the concussion protocol, was able to get some work in during practice and that Berry is "still recovering but doing well."

Tailback Spencer Ware, meanwhile, is scheduled to play on Saturday for the first time since suffering a season-ending knee injury last preseason.

"There's a chance [he plays]. I'm going to see how he does during the warmups, but right now, he's scheduled to play," Reid said. "We'll just see how he feels - especially after today."

Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware (32) during practice on 08/12/18 at Chiefs Training Camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Reid indicated that the team will follow a similar procedure with wide receiver De'Anthony Thomas, who is working his way back to the field after breaking his leg in last year's season finale.

The Chiefs continue the preseason this Saturday at 12 p.m. CT. Catch the action on KCTV5 and 101.1 The Fox.
