Child Abuse Prevention

The Children's Place is a local non-profit that works with small children who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect. I know how vital it is to protect our littlest humans by helping families before a crisis is reached, and also providing resources to help kids cope and heal if they do experience abuse.

I am cheering for Mental Health Awareness as it has a widespread impact on people of all ages. With the rise of mental health-related diagnoses, I advocate for open conversations, kindness and support. Just because you cannot see an illness does not diminish its significance!

Cassidy

Anxiety Disorder Awareness

I am cheering for anxiety awareness because it's an issue I've dealt with throughout my life, and it can be difficult to understand or explain to someone who hasn't experienced it. More importantly, I choose to cheer for this cause to bring awareness to the resources available to help those who are struggling.

Children's Health and Wellness

At my dance studio growing up, I participated in a benefit at my local children's hospital that raised money for pediatric orthopedic patients. This cause has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I would love to continue to cheer for all of the children dealing with physical limitations.

Suicide Prevention

Suicide prevention awareness is important to me because I've lost multiple loved ones to mental illness. No one should feel alone or that their struggles are too heavy to share. I would love the opportunity to cheer for them and help bring awareness to this cause.

Hannah

Hannah

Suicide Prevention

I'm cheering for suicide prevention in memory of my dear friend Hannah, whom I lost to suicide just before our high school graduation. Her loss deeply impacted me, and I want to bring awareness to this critical issue. It's important that those who are struggling know there are resources available to help, and for those who have lost loved ones, that they are not alone. By supporting this cause, I hope to help break the silence around mental health and encourage open conversations.

Play for Patrick

When I was in middle school, my brother's teammate, Patrick, tragically passed away from an undetected heart defect during a hockey game. To honor his life and prevent similar tragedies, Patrick's parents founded Play for Patrick. This organization hosts community events for student athletes, teaching them how to use a defibrillator, perform CPR in emergencies, and providing free comprehensive heart screenings. Thanks to their efforts, Play for Patrick has already saved lives by identifying heart conditions that would have otherwise gone undetected and potentially fatal. I am truly grateful to represent such an important cause.

Substance Abuse Awareness

I would like to cheer for substance abuse awareness in honor of my dad, who was my best friend in the whole world. He struggled with alcoholism which ultimately led to his passing in 2022.

Jordan

Dementia Awareness

I chose this cause since it affects someone near and dear to my heart. It can be sneaky and undetectable for a long time, but it doesn't have to be a normal part of aging. After my grandma's diagnosis, I was faced with the reality of what this meant for our family. I have been invested in learning the why and how behind dementia-related diseases. Even though things will be different for our family, we're still focused on finding joy in every situation.

Child Abuse Prevention

When I leave work each day, I feel secure knowing I'm going home to a safe environment. Unfortunately, many of the children I work with do not have that same sense of safety. Children with disabilities are at least three times more likely to experience abuse or neglect. Those with communication disorders often struggle to advocate for themselves, so I want to raise awareness on their behalf and ensure their voices are heard.

Sepsis Awareness

This year, I cheer in honor of Krissy for Sepsis Awareness—a cause that feels deeply personal as we navigate our first season without her. By raising awareness, I hope to help prevent others from experiencing the devastating loss that comes with this condition. Through my voice and actions, I honor her legacy, striving to make a meaningful impact while embodying her sparkle and love for life. Cheering for causes close to our hearts has always been a tradition, and this season, cheering for Krissy is something I feel especially passionate about.

Krissy embodied dedication, selflessness, and an unmatched sparkle in every aspect of her life. Whether it was her professional career, her time as a Chiefs Cheerleader, or her role with the Alumni Crew, she poured herself into making others feel supported and cared for. Her vibrant energy lit up every room and game day, and her joy and passion for lifting others up were as constant as her presence on the field. For everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, Krissy was a bright light whose influence extended far beyond the football field.

Premature Babies/NICU Awareness

I would like to cheer for premature babies and NICU awareness because my cousin had her baby at 23 weeks. She was in the NICU for many months after she was born. She beat the percentage to survive and is a thriving eight-year old. My philanthropy in college was March of Dimes, which focused on NICU awareness. This cause is near and dear to my heart.

Sepsis Awareness

The cause I cheer for today holds a special place in my heart, as it is in honor of our beloved CC sister, Krissy. Krissy was a beacon of light, always radiating positivity, warmth, and an infectious joy that touched everyone around her. As I wear this ribbon today, I do so not just as a symbol, but as a reminder of the strength, love, and resilience she embodied. Every moment on the field, I hope to honor her by not only cheering for sepsis awareness, but by bringing the joy she brought into every room.

I know Krissy would want us to embrace joy, to keep cheering, and to live life to the fullest – just as she did. Today, every cheer is for her.

Heart Disease

I chose heart disease as my cause to honor and support my grandpa, Bill, in his ongoing battle against the disease. It remains the leading cause of death worldwide, so it's too important to ignore. Continued awareness promotes ongoing research, healthier lifestyles and communities, lowering controllable risk factors, and improving life-saving outcomes.

Lead to Read/Reading Literacy

My cause I cheer for is Lead to Read. Lead to Read is a Kansas City nonprofit dedicated to improving reading proficiency, social-emotional skills and school attendance, while reducing the risk of students dropping out. Reading is essential for life, and this cause is important to me because I have seen firsthand how children gain knowledge and confidence through this program. As a volunteer, I've watched students develop not only academically but also emotionally, and it's deeply rewarding to know that I'm part of their journey. I love to read, and I believe that literacy opens doors to opportunity, independence and a brighter future. It's a skill that empowers individuals throughout their lives and it's important to ensure that kids have access to it.

Animal Protection

My Aunt Cindy, who recently passed, dedicated her entire life to rescuing, housing and nurturing animals that others turned their backs to. She passed on her love of animals to both me and my brother, and I would love to honor her achievements in animal guardianship and protection.
